This study has been motivated from two following questions: Is the approach of the activities in the LD/M responsive to life and pursues a Mathematics teaching aimed at the citizen formation?; How do the statements in the activities of LD/M consider the content directed to the world of life? Trying to give an account of such questions, mathemtics textbooks selected under PNLD of 2011 and 2014 were analyzed, pursuing to verify how and up to what point the world of life is present in such works. We believe that the teaching of Mathematics, strengthened by a sociocultural practice and related to the world of life, fosters great understanding of this science, because by contributing to the interaction, humanization and approximation of mathematics to life, it promotes the acquisition of a better level of interpretation and understanding bringing about the student?s imersion to a better contextualization, taking the student from the viewer role to the role of mathematical knowledge builder. The methodology of this work is based on applied linguistics and on a language in a social context that frames this research as qualitative with socio-historical focus and interpretative profile. In this way, as a methodological course, the following steps were accomplised: the selection of textbooks The Conquest of Mathematics (PNLD, 2011) and Practicing Mathematics, (2014); moreover, a bibliographical study was carried out on the History of Textbook, Mathematics Education in Brazil, Applied Linguistics, Language and the World of Life on a Baktinian perspective. we are based, among other authors, on: Bakhtin (2010 a, b, c, d), Faraco (2009) and Vygotsky (2008) to deal with language in a dialogic and world of life perspective; Rego (1995), Moys?s (1997), Kl?sener (2006); Machado (2001, 2009 e 2012) and Smole and Diniz (2001), to treat, in a general way, the relation between Mathematics and Language, through Discursive Genres, of Reading and Writing. In addition to these authors, we use the knowledge to speak of LD, of Freitag (1989), Gatti J?nior (2004), Schubring (2003), Cassiano (2013); to deal with Mathematics Education in Brazil, we seek Ghirardelli J?nior (2009), D?Ambr?sio (1986, 2008 e 2012), Silva (1992, 2003); on reading, we rely on Sol? (1998) and Freire (1999); Besides Rojo (2009, 2010 and 2012) for literacy; Moita Lopes (1996, 2006 and 2013), Celani (1992 and 1998), Almeida Filho (2011), Pereira and Roca (2009), Signorini and Cavalcanti (1998) for Applied Linguistics; and so many others that surround and feed the study proposed herein. Based on these studies, the categories of analysis were created that guided the evaluation of the works in general, and then the activities selected were evaluated in a more specific way, in the search to identify the world of life. The analysis of the works was done from the categories listed and we realize that the world of life is not realized in the activities. Unfortunately, the world of life is in a situation and "almost happens", "almost occurs", but that can not materialize in the activities, rendering the teaching carried out in the activities and in the analyzed ML / M mechanical, difficult to infer and interaction.
