Social class and cultural reproduction : a study of the exceptional lives of artists working in schools

The motivation for this research was to better understand how social class impacts on the reproduction of cultural taste on the basis that access to 'legitimate' culture is predetermined by class position. This was driven by my history as a woman with a working class cultural heritage operating as an artist in a school setting, a predominantly middle class position.
