Vem får synas i texten? : En maktanalys av de nationella proven i svenska 2006-2010 ur ett intersektionellt perspektiv

In this study I have analysed the national tests in Swedish between the years 2006-2010. These tests are given to all students in the public schools in grade 9 and 10. I wanted to see if I identified an over-representation of a certain category of people in the texts given to the students. I analysed the texts from an intersectional perspective and I used primary Lena Martinsson (2007), Framtidens feminister and her categories and theories and Moria von Wright (1998) Genus & text- när kan man tala om jämställdhet i fysikläromedel?, and her gender categories in my study. My findings were that the most frequent categories were sex, class, age and region. The combinations that I found most frequently occurring were, sex/ class, and sex/ age. The least occurring categories were sexuality, ethnicity and functionality. This is according to me a problem, since the intersectional theories state that it is the least frequent represented categories that are the ones that holds the least amount of power. The Swedish curriculum states that the school should stimulate the students to have a larger understanding of other people and improve their ability to emphasise. Swedish schools should also be a ground for equality. I mean that if schools shall have a chance to live up to these intentions there must be a representation of all kinds of people in the texts.
