The aim of this investigation was to study first to third grade teachers’ experiences of working with pupils integrated into a regular school class from special school. The research questions guiding the study focused on the teachers’ experiences of possibilities and difficulties in this work. Through phone contact with different principals I got in contact with four teachers working in first to third grade classes in compulsory schools in Karlstad municipality. Qualitative interviews were conducted in which I used a semi-structured interview guide focusing on the individual teacher’s unique experiences. The result from the study shows that the teachers had overall positive experiences from working with integrated students from special school. Their different experiences dealt with during the interviews dealt with different aspects of the work that they all lifted up as important in their experiences; Work with “värdegrundsfrågor”, Cooperation with the integrates pupils’ parents, The pupils’ diagnosis and Confidence and help from colleagues. Their experiences of possibilities were for example the fact that the students behaviour came to change to the better, when they spent time with the integrated student. The teachers also talked about difficulties with the integrated student taking time away from the other students and also with the integrated student being treated badly by the other students. But in the end the teachers pointed out that the possibilities were much stronger than the difficulties.
