Although gender power order is a recognized phenomenon in our society, little research has illustrated the detailed expressions to expose its impact. It’s often regarded to have an abstract meaning, something we aim to concretize in this study. Our issue is to identify expressions of gender power order in a male dominated organisation and the purpose sets to define the impact those expressions have on the organisation and its employees. To approach this subject we adopt an emancipatory approach on gender power order, with gender equality as the desirable end state. A case study to get insight and reach understanding of employees experiences was conducted using mixed methods. To get a credible overview of the current state our respondents are selected equally based on gender and hierarchical positions. Data sources include a survey and semi structured interviews concerning our three main themes; organisational power, gender power and organisational culture power. We can conclude that gender power order permeates the organisation vertically as well as horizontally. The result of the study presents seven expressions that we interpreted in our empirical analysis. The mapped expressions can due to the complexity of gender power order both consciously and unconsciously be perceived and maintained by the employees. The fact that gender power order has its impact on the organisational environment impedes the purpose of equality work. To raise awareness of the organisation’s hidden reality should therefore be the starting point for moving forward towards men and womens equal rights, obligations and possibilities.
