Au Canada, de nombreux chercheurs se sont intéressés aux générations d’Autochtones qui ont vécu les pensionnats. L’attention des chercheurs se tournent maintenant de plus en plus vers les générations plus jeunes. Je propose dans ce mémoire de chercher à saisir les dynamiques et les enjeux identitaires des jeunes adultes (18-35 ans) Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok de Manawan, soit les enfants et les petits-enfants de la génération des pensionnats. L’objectif principal est de tenter de mieux saisir la façon dont ceux-ci appréhendent le devenir de leur identité et de leur communauté. Parmi les facettes à explorer: qu’implique d’être un Atikamekw Nehirowisiw de Manawan, aujourd’hui, pour ces agents culturels? De quelles manières s’articulent les relations intergénérationnelles et familiales dans la co-construction et la transmission de l’identité Nehirowisiw à Manawan? Quels sont leurs défis, enjeux et stratégies identitaires? Mais aussi, et il s’agit de la question de recherche principale: Comment les jeunes adultes Nehirowisiwok de Manawan conçoivent-ils le Miro pimatisiwin (Bien Vivre) et le devenir de l’identité Nehirowisiw (Atikamekw)? / In Canada, many researchers have focused on the generations of Aboriginal people who lived through residential schools. Researchers are now increasingly turning their attention to younger generations. In this master thesis, I propose to try to grasp the dynamics and identity issues of the young adults (18-35 years) Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok of Manawan, that is, the children and grandchildren of the residential school generation. The main objective is to try to better understand the way they apprehend the future of their identity and their community. Among the facets to be explored: what does it mean to be an Atikamekw Nehirowisiw of Manawan today for these cultural agents? In what ways are intergenerational and family relationships articulated in the co-construction and transmission of the Nehirowisiw identity in Manawan? What are their challenges, issues and identity strategies? But also, and this is the main research question: How do Nehirowisiwok young adults in Manawan conceive the Miro pimatisiwin (Living Well) and the future of the Nehirowisiw (Atikamekw) identity?
