The purpose of this study was to examine how aware and conscious high school students are regarding common ecolabels on food, as well as how to increase the awareness of ecolabels. The information was gathered by using scientific reports, reports by government agencies and inquiry forms taken by two high school classes. The study showed that the more aware a consumer are, the consumer then buys more ecolabels. A wealthy consumer is also more like-ly to consume more food with ecolabels. The inquiry form was done by 48 students from two different high schools in Malmö, Sweden. The results showed that the students answered very varied and that the most of the ecolabels were clear in their message. The inquiry form showed that several ecolabels such as KRAV needs clarification and to become more clear about the work that they do. The students often knew the main characteristics of the eco-labels, but there was a weakness in how well they knew the other areas that the ecolabels worked and strived towards. To change behaviour it is important to make the behaviour “normal” and “green”, ecolabels was widely considered green, to make it normal then became more important. To make it normal it is among other things important to make it something everyone does, no matter the financial income. The students were also interested in learning more about ecolabels to ensure their choices, while buying food, to consist of buying food with ecolabels. The students wrote that it was important to know more about ecolabels so that the choices they made had the effect that they were after. It was also important to buy ecolabels to ensure a healthy climate for future generations.
