Pedagogens perspektiv på målsman : En kvalitativ studie av två förskoleverksamheters syn på samarbetets betydelse mellan förskola och hem

Preschools are nowadays a big part of almost every childhood in Swedish society and the relationships that are built there are important for the child and the child’s future integration in the world of knowledge and education. The preschool teachers are therefore the first persons the child links to beyond the parent. That’s why the relations between the parent and the preschool teacher are an important and interesting aspect in the cooperation between them. This is an issue that has not been brought up for discussion at the teachers program at Södertörns university, even though it appears that this topic is important for the best interest, for the child, since parents and the teachers are in a constant cooperation.             The aim of this study was to find out in what way four preschool teachers work with cooperation between themselves and the parents that they meet in there preschools. The study has been done in two different types of preschools, one preschool is a parent cooperative and the other one is a preschool run by the community board. This study will raise the question; in what way the relation and the cooperation between the preschool teacher and the parent are important and how the parental influence work out in their respective preschool organization. To fulfill the purpose of the study, I did four interviews which included two preschool teachers from a parent cooperative and two preschool teachers from the community board preschool. The primary theoretical basis was George H Meads (1863-1931) and Herbert Blumers (1900-1987) theory about interactions, Meads theories about communication and awareness is underlying Blumers symbolic interactionism. The results showed that the four preschool teachers thought very much alike on the topic around the relationships and the cooperation between them. In the interviews with the four preschool teachers did we talk about the importance of a good communication and necessity to be aware of diversity in the parental group and the way they approach each other. One of the conclusions I have made in this study is that to get a good cooperation between the teacher and the parent, you need as a preschool teacher, to be aware of the other person’s desires and expectations regarding the child. Good communication leads to a good exchange between the two parts, which is building their cooperation.
