El presente ensayo tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto de la inclusión de morera (Morus alba) en la dieta de cabritos lactantes, sobre la ganancia de peso y características de la canal. Este ensayo se realizó en la localidad de Rinconada de Maipú, Región Metropolitana. Se utilizaron 45 cabritos de dos genotipos: Anglo-Nubian x Criollo y Boer x Criollo; los que fueron distribuidos al azar en dos tratamientos, uno suplementado con heno de alfalfa (T0) y el otro con morera (T1), durante un período de 9 semanas con estabulación nocturna. Durante el día permanecieron con sus madres y en pradera natural. La cantidad de morera y heno suministrado se ajustaron a los requerimientos de los cabritos. / In order to evaluate the effects of including mulberry (Morus alba) in the lactating kids diet, on live weight gain and carcass characteristics, a research was carried out at La Rinconada Experimental Station (Metropolitan Region). Forty five kids of two genotypes: Anglo-Nubian x Creole and Boer x Creole were randomly allotted two treatments: T0: supplemented with alfalfa hay and T1: supplemented with mulberry (leaves and green items), for a period of nine weeks. During the day they were with the goats and grazing natural pasture. Amount of both supplements were adjusted to kids requirements. Daily intake and live weight were controlled weekly. At the end of the trial six kids by treatment were slaughtered to study the effects on carcass characteristics.
