This master thesis project investigates present non-traditional and established databasetechnologies for dealing with sensor-based high frequency monitoring in environmental scienceresearch. Starting on a small scale with limited system resources, this work aims to serve as astarting point and inspiration for tackling problems of "Big Data" magnitude.
