This study will examine students and teachers perceptions of different didactic practices. Through interviews and surveys, I will find out how they experience different teaching methods and whether they feel that the methods lead to learning or not. I will contrast students and teachers perceptions with theory that is relevant to the subject. The didactic practices will be summarized by Granström's division into full-class teaching, group work and individual work. The study shows discrepancies between theories on the subject, students experiences and teachers experiences of which teaching method leads to learning. At the end, I predict a different way of working with group work in order to create learning within the working method that is favored by theory but rejected by students. To some extent, I propose a development of full-class teaching and examination methods.
