The aim of the work is to analyze the difficulties encountered by the Society of Jesus missionaries in relation to catechesis Tupinambá, at the presence of the Caribbean in the villages. Identified as the main opponents to the conversion catechetical project, based on the understanding of the Christian world sustained by cosmological conception of the Orbis Christianus during the sixteenth century, the spiritual leaders of this group were considered indigenous representatives and therefore demonic operators will, now present in Portuguese America.
