En jämförelse mellan danska och svenska geotekniska fältmetoder / A comparison between Danish and Swedish geotechnical field methods

Geotechnical investigations are crucial for ensuring stable and safe constructions, and their execution relies on accurate results from field surveys. The choice of methods varies between Skåne and Sjælland, despite similar geotechnical conditions. In Sweden, there is often reliance on results from CPT soundings, even though the desired depth in clay till is often not reached, whereas in Denmark, the Danish vane test is the primary method used in clay till. The fact that CPT often stops in the clay till of Skåne is considered a problem by some. This study examines the implementation of Danish field investigation methods, especially the Danish vane test, in Skåne to assess its potential benefits and challenges. The method chosen for this was interviews, thus a qualitative method. The target group included individuals with experience in Sweden, experience in Denmark, and also in both countries. The results of the study show a divided view on the use of the Danish vane test, strongly linked to the country of work and level of experience. Danish geotechnicians tend to be more positive about the method and emphasize its reliability, while Swedish respondents' skepticism is partly due to a lack of knowledge and traditional reliance on Swedish methods. Despite the potential for improved results and increased sustainability in projects, obstacles such as unfamiliarity and lack of trust in the results from the methods hinder a broader implementation of the Danish wing. The study recommends that the Danish wing should be used in Skåne, which can increase the reliability of geotechnical assessments and contribute to more sustainable construction projects.
