I dagens samhälle genereras stora mängder data som både privata och offentliga verksamheter kan analysera och dra nytta av. Business Intelligence är ett koncept som handlar om att omvandla data till information som sedan blir kunskap. Business Intelligence och dess analysverktyg kan hjälpa verksamheter att tolka komplex, men konkurrenskraftig, information. Tidigare forskning har främst fokuserat på hur analysverktyg har bidragit med nytta inom privata verksamheter. Denna studie har därför fokuserat på användning av dataanalyser inom offentlig verksamhet, mer specifikt den svenska Polismyndigheten. Tidigare forskning inom polisär verksamhet har främst undersökt användningen av analysverktyg i USA och Kanada. Studien har syftat till att komplettera befintlig litteratur med beskrivningar hur analysverktyg bidrar med nytta inom den svenska polisen samt till andra aktörer. Studien har haft en kvalitativ forskningsansats där användning av dataanalyser inom den svenska polisen har studerats med hjälp av intervjuer. Med hjälp av litteratur om nyttor vid användning av dataanalyser har nyttor som polisen erhållit kunnat identifieras och beskrivas samt hur dessa nyttor bidragit med nytta för andra aktörer. Slutsatsen presenterar de nyttor som polisen erhållit. / In today's society, large amounts of data are generated that both private and public organization can analyze and benefit from. Business Intelligence is a concept that transforms data into information that becomes knowledgeable. Business Intelligence and its analysis tools can help businesses interpret complex, yet competitive, information. Previous research has focused primarily on how analysis tools have contributed with the benefit of private businesses. This study has therefore focused on the use of data analyzes in public activities, more specifically the Swedish Police Office. Previous research in the field of police activities has mainly investigated the use of analytical tools in the US and Canada. The study aims at supplementing existing literature with descriptions of how analytical tools contribute with the Swedish police and to external actors. The study has had a qualitative research effort where the use of data analyzes within the Swedish police has been studied with the help of interviews. Using literature on the use of data analyzes, the benefits received by the police have been identified and described as well as how these benefits contributed to the benefit of external actors. The conclusion presents the benefits received by the police.
