Engenheiros fardados no imp?rio : a modernidade no pensamento dos egressos da escola militar

Previous issue date: 2013-03-14 / This thesis intends to identify the theoretical connections between professional formation and military discourses in Brazil during the nineteenth century, from an analysis of the Army officers thought, particulararly of the representatives of Engineers Corps. Until 1850, when the Minister of War, Manoel Felizardo de Souza Mello, changed the mechanisms for promotion of officers, military academic formation was no requirement to move up the professional military forces. On the other hand, the Military Academy, since its creation in 1810, was responsible for instruct the scientific corps of the Army: the gunners and engineers. Is analyzed the conditions for the creation of the Military School in order to illustrate their curriculum influenced by Portuguese Enlightenment. Linked with the study of this institution, is the research result of documents related to the military that it was formed, as well as those responsible for its maintenance. Are analyzed the speeches of graduates of the Military School, represented for different discourses forms. / Esta tese trata de identificar as conex?es te?ricas entre a forma??o profissional e o discurso militar no Brasil durante o s?culo XIX, a partir da an?lise do pensamento de oficiais do Exercito, particularmente de representantes do corpo de engenheiros. At? 1850, quando o ent?o ministro da Guerra Manoel Felizardo de Souza e Mello alterou os mecanismos para promo??es da oficialidade, a forma??o militar acad?mica n?o era requisito para se ascender na carreira das armas. Por outro lado, a Escola Militar, desde sua cria??o em 1811, era a respons?vel pela instru??o dos corpos cient?ficos do Ex?rcito: os artilheiros e os engenheiros. S?o analisados os pressupostos para a cria??o da Escola Militar com o objetivo de ilustrar a sua estrutura curricular influenciada pelo iluminismo portugu?s. Atrelado ao estudo desta institui??o est? o resultado da investiga??o de documentos referentes aos militares que nela se formaram, assim como ?queles respons?veis pela sua manuten??o. S?o analisadas as falas de egressos da Escola Militar, representadas por diferentes formas de discurso.
