Högläsning - för vem? : En vetenskaplig essä om pdagogers olika sätt att se på högläsning

This essay aims to shed light on educator’s different ways of looking at reading aloud. I have met many colleagues over the years who has been negative towards reading aloud. The dilemmain this essay is a self-perceived situation, where I’m confronted with a colleague who explicity refuses to read fairy tales to the children. I face a problem I havn’t encuntered before and try to help my colleague who doesn´t receive that help. The dilemma takes place since I’ve only worked in childcare för eight years. I chose to write about the situation as it didn´t feel like there was a good solution to the problem. I choose to look at the situation from different angles and look at the situation with new eyes based om the experience I have gained over the years. For me, reading is an important part of the teaching and I believe that during the reading time it’s the children’s participation that contribute to the language development being stimulated. There is a curriculum that the preschool must follow, which demostrates the importance of the children taking part in reading aloud every day. We who work in preschool interpret the curriculum based on ourselves and with the experiences we have. Therefore, I can experience that there are differences in how other colleagues interpret how they can use redaing aloud in the children´s group. I investigate the issue through literature and research articles and reflects on my own approach. I compare how the situation was treated then and how I would have proceeded today. I also choose to look at how reading aloud has looked historically and what is relevant about it in todays society.
