O objetivo geral que orientou a presente pesquisa foi o de analisar as percepções e as ações dos moradores do bairro São João no município de Pato Branco-PR acerca das condições socioambientais do lugar em que vivem. O estudo se caracterizou como uma pesquisa qualitativa com ênfase descritiva. Participaram do estudo 12 sujeitos, 07 do sexo feminino e 05 do sexo masculino. A coleta de dados foi realizada através de entrevista semiestruturada em visitas domiciliares e da observação participante. Para apresentação e descrição dos dados e informações coletadas foi utilizada a técnica da análise de conteúdo e a construção de gráficos e tabelas. Quanto aos resultados obtidos, constata-se que os moradores do bairro São João percebem sua comunidade como um bairro isolado, estigmatizado e negligenciado pelo poder público; destacam a violência, as drogas, o tráfico, as brigas, a bagunça, o som alto e o vandalismo como os principais problemas do bairro; mas também a falta de médicos, a presença de poucas linhas de transporte público, a situação precária das ruas e da pavimentação do bairro, a falta de saneamento básico e controle sanitário. Relativo à capacidade de agência dos moradores, verificou-se que referente aos problemas de violência no bairro, os interlocutores buscam se refugiar no ambiente familiar e não sair de casa no período da noite. Em situações de perturbação do sossego, vandalismo e tráfico de drogas alguns moradores realizam denúncias por meio de ligações telefônicas para a polícia e outros afirmam preferir não buscar auxílio por medo de terem sua residência invadida ou sofrerem algum tipo de violência. Com relação aos problemas de infraestrutura e dificuldades encontradas nos atendimentos realizados pelos serviços públicos no bairro, alguns moradores revelaram buscar ajuda junto ao CRAS, ao presidente do bairro, conversar com pessoas “influentes” do executivo municipal, acionar os meios de comunicação, realizar melhorias no bairro a partir de sua própria ação, como construir lombadas nas ruas, plantar árvores e colaborar na construção de locais de uso comum. / The general objective that guided the present research was to analyze the perceptions and actions of the residents of the São João neighborhood in the municipality of Pato Branco-PR about the socio-environmental conditions of the place where they live. The study was characterized as a qualitative research with descriptive emphasis. Twelve subjects, 07 females and 05 males, participated in the study. Data collection was performed through a semi-structured interview in home visits and participant observation. For the presentation and description of data and information collected, the technique of content analysis and the construction of graphs and tables were used. As for the results obtained, it is observed that the residents of the neighborhood of São João perceive their community as an isolated neighborhood, stigmatized and neglected by the public power; highlight violence, drugs, traffic, fights, mess, loud sound and vandalism as the main problems of the neighborhood; but also the lack of doctors, the presence of few public transport lines, the precarious situation of the streets and the pavement of the neighborhood, the lack of basic sanitation and sanitary control. Regarding the agency capacity of the residents, it was verified that referring to the problems of violence in the neighborhood, the interlocutors seek to take refuge in the family environment and not leave the house at night. In situations of disturbance of the quiet, vandalism and traffic of drugs some residents make denunciations by means of telephone calls to the police and others affirm to prefer not to seek help for fear of having their residence invaded or suffering some type of violence. With regard to the infrastructure problems and difficulties encountered in the services provided by the public services in the neighborhood, some residents revealed to seek help from the CRAS, to the district president, to talk with influential people of the municipal executive, to activate the media, to make improvements in the neighborhood from their own actions, such as building spines in the streets, planting trees and collaborating in the construction of places of common use.
