O objetivo desta dissertação foi investigar a prática da Educação Ambiental na disciplina de matemática por meio da Modelagem Matemática e a temática ambiental com o intuito de verificar as implicações deste processo, tanto para os aspectos das perspectivas Conservadora e Crítica da Educação Ambiental, quanto para a Modelagem Matemática. O local da pesquisa foi uma escola municipal localizada na zona urbana de São Lourenço do Oeste - SC e os participantes foram estudantes de quatro turmas do 9o ano do Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa ocorreu no segundo semestre de 2016 nas aulas regulares de matemática e a professora desta disciplina também assumiu o papel de pesquisadora. Para a coleta de dados foram aplicados questionários semiestruturados para cada estudante, previamente e após o desenvolvimento das atividades. Além deste instrumento de coleta de dados, foi utilizado um diário de campo para registro de observações no decorrer da pesquisa e, ao final, foram realizadas entrevistas por meio de grupo focal com os pesquisados. Os dados obtidos foram analisados por meio da técnica da Análise de Conteúdo. Quanto à Educação Ambiental, os resultados revelam que, uma quantidade significativa dos participantes passaram a compreender que a questão ambiental não é apenas de ordem da natureza, mas é da natureza e sociedade (socioambiental). Mesmo persistindo, por uma parte dos pesquisados, respostas relacionadas à conscientização, comportamentos e atitudes voltadas para o cuidado com a natureza, houve registros relativos à reflexão e criticidade no que tange ao meio ambiente. No tocante à Modelagem Matemática, as atividades possibilitaram maior clareza a respeito da realidade ambiental e melhor compreensão da matemática. Por outra parte, foram identificados registros concernentes à dificuldade quanto a aprendizagem da matemática e o processo de modelagem por parte dos pesquisados. / The purpose of the present dissertation was to investigate the Environmental Education in the mathematics subject through the Mathematical Modeling and the environmental theme in order to verify the implications of this process, both for the aspects of the Conservative and Critical perspective of the Environmental Education and for the Mathematical Modeling. The research took place in a municipal school, located in São Lourenço do Oeste-SC, Brazil, urban zone, and the participants were students from four classrooms of the 9th grade of Elementary School. The research took place in the second term of 2016 in regular math classes, and the math teacher also took on the role of the researcher. Semi-structured surveys were applied to each student in order to collect data, before and after the development of the activities. In addition to this data collection instrument, during the research, a field diary was used to record the observations and in the end, the students were interviewed. The data was analyzed trough the Content Analysis Technique. Regarding Environmental Education, the results show that a significant amount of participants came to understand that the environmental issue is not only environmental itself, but is relationship with society (socio-environmental). Even though, there were answers about awareness, behavior, and attitudes towards the care with de environment, there were recordings regarding to the reflection and criticism about the environment. Regarding the Mathematical Modeling, the activities made clearer the environmental reality and a better understanding of mathematics. On the other hand, there were recordings concerning the difficulty on learning math, and the modeling process on the part of the students.
