Previous issue date: 2016 / Na Modernidade pode-se fazer uma distinção entre a política e o político. Esta distinção é solidária à outra: corpo e organismo. Enquanto a política considera o corpo como uma materialidade em que o vivente é inserido no simbólico e, portanto, considera os corpos como corpos falantes dos seres falantes, o político, na era da governamentalidade e como resposta ao problema da multidão, privilegia o organismo, dilui as diferenças entre a vida privada e vida pública, acopla-se à primazia da economia política e transforma o Estado em um grande aparelho de administração da vida biológica. De um lado e de outro, o saber do corpo significa coisas distintas. Para o político, é fundamental a matematização do corpo, o tratamento quantitativo do corpo; por isso a estatística é o seu principal instrumento, assim como é para o governo de uma população, e por isso também é que a noção de organismo lhe é necessária. Já para a política, não é possível considerar o corpo sem levar em conta que ele funciona sempre-já inserido na dialética do significante; assim sendo, os seres falantes não podem deixar de responder, em última instancia, à contingência infinita dos corpos.<br> / Abstract: In Modern times a distinction between politics and the political can be made. That distinction is solidary with another: body and organism. Whilst politics considers the body as the materiality in which the livingbeing is inserted in the symbolic and, therefore bodies are considered speaking bodies of speaking beings, the political, in governmentalitytimes and in response to the mass problem, privileges the organism,dilutes the differences between private life and public life, it is coupled with the primacy of political economy and transforms the State into agreat device of administration of the biological life. On one side or the other, the body's knowledge has a different meaning. For the political, the mathematization of the body is fundamental, the quantitativetreatment of the body; for this reason statistics is its principal tool, as itis also for the government of a community, and therefore the notion oforganism is necessary. For politics, on the other hand, it is not possible to consider the body without taking into account that it always works,already inserted in the dialectics of significant, that way speaking beings can not refrain from answering, ultimately, to the endless contingency ofther bodies.
