Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on rakentaa toimiva, ISO 9001-mukainen laadunhallintajärjestelmä metallialan pk-yritykseen ja saada yritykselle ISO 9001-laatusertifikaatti. Yritys asetti laadunhallintajärjestelmän rakentamisen tavoitteeksi yrityksen sisäisten toimintojen selkeyttämisen ja tehostamisen sekä viestiä asiakkaille kyvykkyys toimia laadukkaasti osana tuotantoketjua. Tutkimusongelma on jaettu kahteen tutkimuskysymykseen:
RQ1: Mitkä ovat laadunhallintajärjestelmän toteutuksen keskeiset haasteet pk-yrityksessä?
RQ2: Mitkä ovat laadunhallintajärjestelmän toteutuksen hyödyt pk-yrityksessä?
Tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa esitellään ensin PK- yritysten ja mikroyritysten toimintaperiaatteita ja perehdytään hieman johtamistapoihin sekä muutoksen johtamiseen. Teoriaosuudessa esitellään myös ISO 9000 standardiperhe sekä ISO 9001 standardointiprosessi.
Tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin toimintatutkimusta. Tutkimus aloitettiin marraskuussa 2014 ja tutkimus saatiin päätökseen huhtikuussa 2014. Yrityksessä toteutettu toimintatutkimus eteni vaiheittain. Ensimmäisessä vaiheessa tutustuttiin yrityksen toimintatapoihin ja kartoitettiin yrityksen nykytila sekä selvitettiin, mitä osia ISO 9001 standardista yritys jo täytti nykyisillä toimintamenetelmillä. Toisessa vaiheessa tunnistettiin yrityksen menestymisen kannalta tärkeimmät prosessit ja muokattiin toimintaa lähemmäksi prosessimaista toimintamallia. Kolmannessa vaiheessa rakennettiin yritykseen laadunhallintajärjestelmä, johon lisättiin ISO 9001 kannalta vaadittavat toiminnot. Neljännessä vaiheessa tarkistettiin täyttikö yritys ISO 9001-standardissa vaadittavat kriteerit. Sertifiointiauditoinnin jälkeen tehtiin vielä vastine esille tulleisiin poikkeamiin ja lopulta yritykselle myönnettiin ISO 9001-laatusertifikaatti kolmannen osapuolen toimesta.
Tutkimuksessa havaittiin, että pitkään samoilla menetelmillä toimineen yrityksen toimintatapojen muuttaminen on haasteellista. Uudet toimintatavat ja menetelmät tuli perustella yrityksen johdolle tarkasti ja esitellä mitä hyötyjä niistä on, jotta uudistusta lähdettiin edes viemään yrityksessä eteenpäin. / The aim of the research is to implement an effective ISO9001- adequate quality system in small and medium-sized (SME) company which operates in metal industry and the other aim is to get a ISO9001 certification. The company’s targets to this project was to clarify and improve their internal processes and to give the external message that they can work in high quality in a part of the supply chain. The research problem is divided into two research problems:
RQ1: What are the main challenges when implementing the quality system in the SME company
RQ2: What are the main benefits when implementing the quality system in the SME company
The first part of the theory is including the basic policies in SME’s. After that the focus is in a management policy and the management of changes in SME’s. ISO9001 standard family and the process of the ISO9001 standardization is also introduced in the theory part.
The used research method was action research. The research was started in November 2014 and was completed in April that year. The research was carried out in company’s office and in the company’s production plant and gone through the step by step. The first part of the research was to get to know of the company present policies and the present condition and to make clear which parts of the ISO9001 standard was already fulfilled and which was not. The second step of the research was to recognize the main processes in the company from the success point of view and to develop these processes towards the processional operating model. In the third part of the research the quality management system was built and the requirements of the ISO9001 standard was added to the processes. The fourth part included the checking if all the requirements were fulfilled from the ISO9001 point of view. After the audit, we did the response to the deviations and after that the ISO9001 certificate was granted by the third part.
During the research, it was noticed that it is challenging to change the habits in the company which has worked very long time with the same working methods and with the same organization. New working methods needed to justify very precisely to the lead of the company and also after that it was not so sure that the company will start to use it and to develop it to future.
