Previous issue date: 2016-03-04 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This thesis aims to unravel the mediations and contradictions that are linked to the Brazilian Social Service at the beginning of the 21st century, from the debate of training and professional work and its particularities in health area, focusing on research and investigative dimension. So that could be possible, the qualitative method was based on Marxism and was articulated to exploratory research, through literature, desk research and field. The latter (field) was held with the President of ABEPSS, management 2013-2014, through semi- structured interview, which was conducted to evaluate the place of research and investigative dimension in vocational training. On the other hand, it was carried out structured interviews with seven social workers, health care workers and registered internship supervisors at UFF in Campos / RJ, to evaluate the work undertaken by the social worker in health care and, from there, examine the place that the research and investigative dimension are exerted in their activities. This proposal was guided on the criteria of the Ministry of Health / National Health Board / National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP) involving human subjects, following the recommendations of Resolution 196/96 of the National Health Council. Overall, the results indicate that neo-liberalism of the 21st century, supported by international organizations guidelines, has been reverberating on higher education policy through border dilution between the public and the private, of changes in the conception of education, that is linked to the market and the deterioration of professional training. This situation affects the educational project of the current Social Services, through the low quality of education and the alleviation of research and the capacity of building knowledge critically and independently. This reality is linked to the fact that this profession suffers the general processes of precarious work, their conditions and relationships in the current scenario. These factors, linked to other determinants goals of professional work, have contributed to the threat to the intellectual dimension of the work in the perspective of the ethical-political project of Social Work / Esta tese objetiva desvendar as mediações e contradições que se vinculam ao Serviço Social brasileiro na entrada do século XXI, a partir do debate da formação e do trabalho profissional e suas particularidades na área da saúde, sob o enfoque da pesquisa e da dimensão investigativa. Para tanto, recorreu-se ao método qualitativo pautado no marxismo, articulando-o à pesquisa exploratória, através de investigação bibliográfica, documental e de campo. Esta última foi realizada com a Presidente da ABEPSS, gestão 2013-2014, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, que teve por objetivo avaliar o lugar da pesquisa e da dimensão investigativa na formação profissional. Por outro lado, foi realizada entrevista estruturada com 07 assistentes sociais, trabalhadores da área da saúde e supervisores de estágio cadastrados na UFF, em Campos/RJ, objetivando avaliar o trabalho empreendido pelo assistente social na área da saúde e, a partir daí, examinar o lugar que a pesquisa e a dimensão investigativa têm ocupado em suas atividades. Esta proposta esteve pautada nos critérios do Ministério da Saúde/Conselho Nacional de Saúde/Comissão Nacional de Ética em Pesquisa (CONEP) envolvendo seres humanos, seguindo as recomendações da resolução 196/96 do Conselho Nacional de Saúde. De forma geral, os resultados apontam que o neoliberalismo do século XXI, apoiado em diretrizes de organismos internacionais, tem repercutido na política de educação superior através da diluição das fronteiras entre o público e o privado, de alterações na concepção de educação vinculada ao mercado e da precarização da formação profissional. Essa situação atinge o projeto de formação do Serviço Social atual, através da baixa qualidade do ensino e do aligeiramento da pesquisa e da capacidade de construção do conhecimento de forma crítica e autônoma. A essa realidade se articula o fato de que esta profissão sofre os processos gerais de precarização do trabalho, de suas condições e relações no cenário atual. Esses fatores, articulados a outros determinantes objetivos do trabalho profissional analisados ao longo da tese, têm contribuído para a ameaça à dimensão intelectiva do trabalho na perspectiva do projeto ético-político profissional do Serviço Social
