Resumo: A presente dissertação é fruto da inquietação sobre a disseminação da arte e da cultura por meio de Projetos Sociais, bem como do interesse da pesquisadora pela linguagem da dança. A escolha pela reflexão envolvendo Projetos Sociais em Dança no contexto paulistano, justifica-se pela força da arte da dança, cuja matéria-prima de expressão, execução e veiculação do conhecimento é o do corpo humano. Assim, o que nos parece especial nessa linguagem é o fato do fazer artístico acontecer no corpo, afetando, intimamente, o indivíduo que (efetivamente) participa da sua realização. Com isso, nosso objetivo é revelar ao meio acadêmico o projeto "O que é a Dança?", desenvolvido pelo Balé da Cidade de São Paulo. Isso, com a finalidade, de questionar a relevância das ações de um projeto social na área da dança. Buscamos observar os critérios utilizados em sua fundamentação em relação ao contexto social contemporâneo. / Abstract: For present dissertation is inquietude fruit on the art sowing and of the culture by means of Social Projects, as well as of the researcher interest for dance. The choice by the reflection involving Social Projects in Dance in the context of São Paulo, it justifies by the dance art force, whose expression raw material and execution of the knowledge is the human body. That being the case, what it seems to us special in this language is the fact of the do artistic to happen in the body, affecting intimately, the individual that (indeed) takes part in its accomplishment. This way, our goal is to reveal to the a little academic the project "O que é a Dança?" developed by the Balé da Cidade de São Paulo. That, with the purpose of questioning the actions relevance of a social project in the dance area.
