Previous issue date: 2014-06-20 / This masters thesis discusses the studying and the teaching of drama and its implications among teenagers of the contemporary world. This paper also analyses an extracurricular project entitled Drama in the development of citizenship , which was carried out in the public state school Berilo Wanderley in Natal/RN, between 1999 and 2005 with high school students. It comprises a case study that aimed at understanding how and why they chose to take drama classes outside of the school curriculum and even after they graduated, some of them never left the school project and even started participating in the cultural and artistic context of the city of Natal quite actively, both as part of an audience as well as on artistic, political, social and pedagogical performance. The project was high significant for its participants, for the school and for the community, by creating a sense of recognition of the relevance of the pedagogical and artistic production in the public school, as it managed to yield knowledge that helped students to understand the values of group work, sharing information, collaborative assessment and, most of all, to engender actions of protagonism by the teenagers themselves within their social environments. The empirical process developed is placed in a contemporary historical context where educational paradigms shifts occur, and where categories of youth empowerment and protagonism are fundamental to the educational process in the 21st century. The objective of this study is to reflect upon the pedagogical dimension of drama classes for teenagers, aiming at providing further discussions on the role of acting classes in the construction of the personality among youngsters, thus hoping to contribute to other teaching practices, including drama and other subjects of general education / Esta disserta??o tem como tema de estudo, o ensino de teatro e suas implica??es na vida dos adolescentes no mundo contempor?neo. Analisa um projeto extracurricular intitulado A arte dram?tica na constru??o da cidadania , que foi desenvolvido na Escola Estadual Berilo Wanderley, Natal/RN, entre os anos de 1999 e 2005, com estudantes adolescentes do Ensino M?dio. Trata-se de um Estudo de Caso cujo objetivo ? compreender como e por que , eles/elas optaram pelo fazer teatral desvinculado da grade curricular e ao conclu?rem o ensino b?sico, alguns deles/delas continuaram desenvolvendo a pr?tica art?stica naquela escola e passaram a participar ativamente do contexto cultural da cidade de Natal, tanto no aspecto da frui??o como na atua??o art?stica, pol?tica, social e pedag?gica. O projeto em estudo foi significativo para os seus participantes, para a escola e para a comunidade, gerando um reconhecimento da relev?ncia da produ??o art?stico-pedag?gica na escola p?blica, por potencializar saberes para conhecer, fazer, ser e conviver, mas principalmente por desencadear a??es de protagonismo pelos adolescentes em seus espa?os de conviv?ncia. O processo emp?rico desenvolvido se insere num contexto hist?rico contempor?neo onde se operaram mudan?as de paradigmas educacionais, onde as categorias empoderamento e protagonismo juvenil se tornaram chaves para a educa??o do s?culo XXI. O objetivo deste estudo ? refletir sobre as rela??es entre a dimens?o pedag?gica da pr?tica teatral com adolescentes, visando aprofundar a discuss?o sobre o papel do teatro na forma??o do sujeito na perspectiva de contribuir com outras pr?ticas de ensino de teatro e de educa??o em geral
