The author analizes the wáy educational practice and develpmental psychology have interacted over the years, specially concerning the first years of life. Research about cognitive and affective processes that have found educational applications is reviewed as well as the main massive programs they have produced. An essay of evaluation of the results is presented. / El autor hace un análisis del papel que juega la teoría en la investigación científica entendida como proceso de generación y construcción de conocimientos. En ese sentido, se plantea el rol da la teoría como soporte dinámico de la investigación y el hecho, central, que no se opone de ninguna manera a la creatividad.
