Previous issue date: 2016-01-20 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Objectives: The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the maximal load resistance of endodontically treated molars restored with: inlays or onlays of Lava Ultimate, composite resin Z350 XT with or without fiberglass post. Methods: Fifty sound extracted third molars were embedded in acrylic resin and divided into 5 groups (n = 10 per group): H = healthy, ON = onlay, IN = inlay, RC = composite resin, PT = fiberglass post + Z350 XT. The MOD preparations and endodontic treatment were performed. Indirect restorations were made through CAD/CAM CEREC system and cemented with SingleBond Universal and RelyX Ultimate under load of 1 kg. Restorations of RC and PT groups were performed by incremental technique and the two posts in the PT group were horizontally transfixed and bonded with flowable resin. Then, mechanical loading in all samples were performed in 500.000 cycles at 200 N at a frequency of 1 cycle / second and the maximum load test was performed in a universal testing machine at a speed of 1 mm / min. After the mechanical test, the faults were categorized into pulpal floor fracture (irreparable) and cuspal fracture (repairable). Results: Mean values were (means followed by the same letter show no significant difference to ANOVA and Tukey): RC 1680N ? 454 d; PT 2693N ? 372 bc; ON 2922N ? 774 b; IN 2053N ? 313 cd; H 4514N ? 548 a. The predominant failure pattern for teeth restored with onlays, inlays and direct composite resin with or without post was the irreparable type. Conclusion: Endodontically treated molars restored with transfixed fiberglass post and composite resin have similar fracture resistance to those restored with indirect Lava Ultimate inlay and onlay. Horizontally fiber post restoration has the same efficiency that onlays restoration. / Objetivos: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar e comparar in vitro a resist?ncia m?xima ao carregamento de molares tratados endodonticamente e restaurados com: inlays ou onlays de Lava Ultimate, resina composta Z350 XT com ou sem pino de fibra de vidro transfixado. Materiais e m?todos: Cinquenta terceiros molares h?gidos extra?dos foram inclu?dos em acr?lico autopolimeriz?vel e divididos em 5 grupos (n = 10 por grupo): H = h?gido, ON = onlay, IN = inlay, RC = resina composta, PT = pino de fibra de vidro + Z350 XT. Em seguida, foram realizados os preparos MOD e o tratamento endod?ntico. As restaura??es indiretas foram confeccionadas atrav?s do sistema CAD/CAM CEREC e cimentadas com SingleBond Universal e RelyX Ultimate sob carga de 1 Kg. As restaura??es do grupo RC e PT foram realizadas pela t?cnica incremental e os dois pinos no grupo PT foram transfixados horizontalmente e colados com resina flowable. Ap?s, os corpos de prova foram submetidos a 500.000 ciclos de fadiga mec?nica sob carga vertical de 200 N na frequ?ncia de 1 ciclo/segundo. Na sequ?ncia, foi aplicado o teste de carga m?xima de carregamento em m?quina de ensaio universal a uma velocidade de 1 mm/min. Ap?s o ensaio mec?nico, as falhas foram categorizadas em fratura de assoalho pulpar (irrepar?veis) e fraturas de c?spides (repar?veis). Resultados: Os valores m?dios obtidos foram (m?dias seguidas de mesma letra n?o apresentam diferen?a estat?stica para ANOVA e Tukey): RC 1680N ? 454 d; PT 2693N ? 372 bc; ON 2922N ? 774 b; IN 2053N ? 313 cd; H 4514N ? 548 a. O padr?o de falha predominante para dentes restaurados com onlays, inlays e resina composta direta com ou sem pino foi do tipo irrepar?vel. Conclus?o: Molares endodonticamente tratados e restaurados com pinos de fibra de vidro transfixado e resina composta Z350 XT direta apresentam resist?ncia ? fratura similar ?s restaura??es indiretas tipo inlay e onlay de Lava Ultimate. Restaura??es com pino transfixado horizontalmente possuem a mesma efic?cia que as restaura??es onlays.
