Previous issue date: 2007-03-15 / Esse estudo tem como objetivo investigar as principais características da medição de desempenho empresarial das organizações do setor salineiro no estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Para isso, foram pesquisadas 31 empresas do setor de um total de 39 organizações. O instrumento de coleta foi um questionário com perguntas objetivas direcionadas aos gestores. Utilizouse do SPSS, versão 13.0, para efetuar a análise descritiva dos dados, bem como os testes estatísticos nãoparamétricos (Teste Exato de Fisher e QuiQuadrado). Das sete hipóteses testadas, quatro hipóteses foram rejeitadas, dentre elas: relação entre o tempo de experiência dos gestores e utilização da avaliação de desempenho, relação entre o porte da empresa e comparação do que foi planejado e executado, relação do tempo de experiência do gestor e utilização de benchmarking, e relação do tempo de atividade da empresa versus comparação do que foi planejado e executado. Já as hipóteses aceitas foram as seguintes: relação entre o porte da empresa e certificação ISO, relação entre o porte da empresa e divulgação de diretrizes e estratégias, e relação entre o tempo de atividade da empresa versus utilização de benchmarking. Os indicadores financeiros mais utilizados foram os relacionados ao ciclo operacional e ao desempenho econômico. No tocante aos indicadores nãofinanceiros, os mais utilizados foram os relacionados à qualidade dos produtos, satisfação do cliente, evolução da posição no mercado, avaliação dos fornecedores e valor da marca. Os resultados empíricos revelam que as organizações desse setor não possuem um sistema de medição de desempenho estruturado de acordo com a literatura específica. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This study aims at investigating the major characteristics of entrepreneurial performance measurement of the salt sector organizations in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. In order to do this, 31 enterprises from this sector, from a total of 39 organizations, were researched. The instrument of collecting data was a questionnaire with objective questions to the managers. It was used the SPSS, version 13.0, to accomplish the descriptive analysis of the data, as the nonparametric statistic tests (Fisher’s Exact Test and SquareQui). From seven hypotheses tested, four were rejected, among them: the relationship between managers’ experience time and the utilization of performance evaluation, the relationship between the size of the enterprise and the comparison of what was planned and executed, the relationship between the managers’ experience time and the utilization of benchmarking, the relationship between the enterprise functioning time versus comparison of what was planned and executed. The accepted hypotheses were the following: the relationship between the size of the enterprise and the ISO certification, the relationship between the size of the enterprise and the publicizing of guidelines and strategies, and the relationship between the enterprise functioning time versus benchmarking utilization. The most used financial indexes were those related to the operational cycle, and economic performance. Regarding to the nonfinancial indexes, the most used were those related to the product quality, costumers’ satisfaction, evolution of the position in the market, suppliers’ evaluation, and the value of the brand. The empiric results revealed that the organizations from this sector do not have a system of mediation of structured performance according to the specific literature.
