Previous issue date: 2017-02-10 / O munic?pio de Parelhas/RN faz parte de um dos n?cleos de desertifica??o classificados pelo Minist?rio do Meio Ambiente. Nesse contexto, os trabalhadores rurais do Semi?rido precisam estar preparados para suportar os per?odos de estiagem, buscando diversificar suas fontes de renda, para que assim n?o dependam somente das condi??es clim?ticas, sendo as atividades de base mineral uma alternativa de complementa??o de renda dessas pessoas. Devido a isso, o objetivo deste estudo ? analisar a rela??o existente entre as atividades de base mineral e a agricultura, tra?ar um perfil dos trabalhadores que desempenham atividade de base mineral no munic?pio de Parelhas/RN a fim de avaliar suas caracter?sticas laborais. Pesquisa bibliogr?fica, documental e formul?rios aplicados pelo Programa Sa?de da Fam?lia (PSF) em 2007, foram utilizados para o alcance desses objetivos. Os resultados apontaram que existe uma rela??o intr?nseca entre as atividades de base mineral e agricultura no Rio Grande do Norte, estado do Nordeste com a maior propor??o de estabelecimentos agropecu?rios com agricultura familiar e receitas de explora??o mineral, onde se destacam suas microrregi?es de Mossor?, Vale do A?u e Serid? Oriental. Em Parelhas foi poss?vel perceber que os trabalhadores que exercem atividades de base mineral s?o tamb?m agricultores, mas n?o em sua maioria, comprovando que a pluriatividade ? uma realidade no munic?pio, mesmo n?o sendo predominante entre os trabalhadores em atividades de base mineral. O grupo estudado se mostrou extremamente fr?gil devido ?s suas condi??es laborais, principalmente os que associam a minera??o com a agricultura. / The man of the semiarid must be prepared to withstand the periods of drought. In this sense, they associate different activities to make feasible the multiplicity of income sources, thus avoiding dependence on climatic conditions, with mining being an alternative activity for the rural workers. The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between mining and agriculture, to draw a profile of the workers that perform mining activity in the municipality of Parelhas/RN to evaluate their labor characteristics, as well as to verify what activities are performed by these individuals, associating the most vulnerable to existing public policies. Bibliographic and documentary research and form applied by the Health Family Program (PSF - Programa Sa?de da Fam?lia) in 2007 were used to reach these objectives. The results showed that there is an intrinsic relationship between mining and agriculture in Rio Grande do Norte and, more specifically, in the microregion of the Eastern Serid?. In Parelhas it was possible to perceive that the workers who perform activities of mineral base are also farmers, but not for the most part of them, proving that pluriactivity is a reality in Parelhas/RN, even though it is not predominant among mining workers. The studied group is extremely fragile due to its working conditions, especially those that associate mining with agriculture. There is nothing forwarded or in force, regarding the laws or public policies that contemplate the individuals that possess this occupational duality. Farmers and miners are housed as special insured for family farmers to ease the wear and tear of these arduous activities when they reach old age.
