Previous issue date: 2013-01-28 / Information Systems (IS) development performed by global distributed teams is a practice widely applied and adopted in the Information Technology (IT) industry. The adoption of this practice reveals significant challenges for resource managers and coordinators responsible for these teams, given that, in a multicultural context, the cultural differences of the actors that are part of this software development process are evidenced. The ideational manifestations and the different characteristics may reveal national culture aspects that influence the project management goals achievement. Thereby, this dissertation seeks to answer the following research question: What is the national culture effect manifested by global distributed software development teams in the project management success factors? To answer this question, an exploratory qualitative research was conducted; applying a case study in an IT company that widely adopts the concept of global distributed IS development.Based on the Hofstede? s cultural dimensions and the indexes assigned to cultures from different nationalities, the cultural manifestations and the impact on achieving project management goals were related to each other. The findings derived from this research allow the identification of national cultural manifestation in the individuals; the alignment between national culture and the indexes identified by Hofstede and the relationship between the national culture manifestations and the impacts in the IS development project management in a global distributed team context / O desenvolvimento de Sistemas de Informa??o (SI) em times globalmente distribu?dos ? uma pr?tica amplamente aplicada e difundida no mercado de Tecnologia da Informa??o (TI). A ado??o desta pr?tica revela significantes desafios para gerentes e coordenadores de recursos respons?veis por esses times, uma vez que, em um contexto pluricultural, evidenciam-se as diferen?as culturais dos atores inseridos nos processos de desenvolvimento de software. As manifesta??es ideacionais e as diferentes caracter?sticas podem revelar aspectos de cultura nacional que influenciam no atingimento de objetivos da gest?o de projetos. Desta forma, esta disserta??o visa a responder ? seguinte quest?o de pesquisa: Qual o efeito da cultura nacional manifestada por times globalmente distribu?dos nos fatores de sucesso da gest?o de projetos de desenvolvimento de software? Para responder a esta pergunta, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, de car?ter explorat?rio, aplicando-se um estudo de caso em uma empresa de TI que adota amplamente o conceito de times globalmente distribu?dos para desenvolvimento de SI.Com base nas dimens?es culturais de Hofstede e os ?ndices atribu?dos a culturas de diferentes nacionalidades, foram relacionadas as manifesta??es culturais e o impacto no atingimento de objetivos de gest?o de projetos. Os resultados encontrados permitem identificar manifesta??es de cultura nacional nos indiv?duos, o alinhamento das manifesta??es de cultura nacional com os ?ndices das dimens?es de cultura identificadas por Hofstede e relacionar as manifesta??es de cultura nacional com os impactos na gest?o de projetos de desenvolvimento de SI, no contexto de times globalmente distribu?dos
