Previous issue date: 2009 / O presente trabalho propõe um estudo de caso acerca do processo de transformação em saúde mental do município de Barbacena-MG, no contexto da Reforma Psiquiátrica brasileira. Partiu-se do estudo da criação da assistência psiquiátrica no estado mineiro, delineando os principais fatores presentes na história da psiquiatria mineira. Para tal realizou-se a busca documental em relatórios, reportagens, projetos e demais fontes primárias. O estudo foi dividido cronologicamente em três períodos históricos distintos: o primeiro momento representou o auge do manicômio enquanto poder supremo da psiquiatria, destacando o período da constituição da assistência psiquiátrica em Barbacena até o ano de 1979, quando o psiquiatra italiano Franco Basaglia visitou o município. O segundo período compreendido entre os anos de 1979 e 2000 buscou delinear as primeiras denúncias acerca do modelo vigente e das primeiras transformações assistenciais. Por fim o foco foi mantido sobre o período 2000 a 2004, quando Barbacena deu início a tentativa de construção de uma rede de serviços substitutivos. Além da utilização da busca documental foram ainda realizadas análises bibliográficas a partir de conceitos-chave do processo de Reforma Psiquiátrica, Desinstitucionalização e Doença Mental entre parênteses . Os dados obtidos foram ainda complementados com o recurso do diário de campo. A construção de uma rede de saúde mental em Barbacena é uma experiência tardia. A partir do ano 2000 diversos serviços substitutivos foram criados, como Caps, Naps e Serviços Residenciais Terapêuticos. Ao mesmo tempo ocorreu o fechamento e descredenciamento de hospitais psiquiátricos, culminando em uma significativa redução de leitos. Apesar do avanço evidenciado, a rede de saúdemental apresentou pontos vulneráveis, exigindo, portanto a criação de novos serviços e a reformulação de serviços já existentes. / The present research considers a case study about the process of transformation in mental health of the Barbacena city in the context of the brazilian
psychiatric reform. The research started with the study of the creation of the pshychiatric assistance in the state of Minas Gerais, delineating the psychiatric history. It was used documentary search in reports, news articles, projects and others primary sources. The research was divided chronological in three periods: the first one represented the apogee of the asylum while to be able supreme of psychiatric,the period of the beginnig of the psychiatric ones until the year of 1979, when Italian psychiatrist Franco Basaglia visited Barbacena. It second moment enters the years of 1979 and 2000 the research shows the first denuciations concerning the manicomial model and of the first transformations. Finally the focus was kept on the
period between 2000 and 2004, when Barbacena beginnig the attempt of construction of a substitutive network of cares in mental health.
Beyond the use of the documentary search they had been still used bibliography analysis from keywords Psychiatric Reform, Desinstitucionalization and “Insanity between parentheses”. The data still had been complemented with the resource of diary notes.
The implantation of a network in mental health in Barbacena is a delayed experience. From the year of 2000 many services substitutes had been created, as Caps, Naps and Therapeutic Home Services. At the same time was closed some
hospitals culminating in a significant reduction os stream beds. Altough the advance of the city network, it has presented vulnerable points. It´s necessary the creation of new services and the reformularization of some existing services already.
