Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The effect of different allowances (3, 6, or 9 kg of dry matter (DM)/100 kg of body weight (BW)) of leaf lamina (ALL) on the traits of a bermudagrass pasture Cynodon dactylon var. dactylon) and on the performance of sheep was evaluated. The experiment was conducted in five periods of 28 days, from october 2008 to february 2009, in a fully randomized arrangement with three replications of area per treatment and three tester sheep in each area. There was statistical interaction (P<0,05) between period and forage allowance for the following variables: forage
mass (2.878 to 6.580 kg of DM ha-1), proportions of stem in the DM (22,2 to 52,9%), proportions of dead material in the DM (20,5 a 58,4%), and animal stocking rate (652
to 2.428 kg of BW ha-1). The ALL did not affect (P<0,05) the leaf proportion of the pasture (18,6 to 22,2%) and the growth rate of leaf lamina (12 to 39 kg ha -1 day-1 of
DM). However, those variables varied quadratically and cubically (P<0,05) according to the periods, respectively. Herbage chemical composition also was not affected by
the treatments, although the neutral detergent fiber content and the in vitro digestibility had varied quadratically (P<0,05), while nitrogen and dry matter content varied cubically (P<0,05) according to the periods. A statistical interaction between period
and ALL was found for animal performance (P<0,05). Excepting the second experimental period where the average daily gain (ADG) ranged from 54 to 99 g animal-1 day-1, ADG presented negative values during the experiment. On the other hand, estimated forage intake was not affected by the ALL levels, and averaged 1.044 g of DM animal-1 dia-1. It was concluded that the ALL level of bermudagrass does not affected herbage growth, and irregularly influenced sheep performance. However, adverse climatic conditions during the experiment markedly influenced the results obtained. / Foi avaliado o efeito de diferentes níveis de oferta (3, 6 ou 9 kg de matéria seca (MS)/100 kg de peso vivo (PV)) de lâminas foliares verdes (OFLV) sobre os atributos
da pastagem de grama-seda (Cynodon dactylon var.dactylon) e sobre o desempenho de ovinos. O experimento foi conduzido em cinco períodos de 28 dias, entre outubro de 2008 e fevereiro de 2009, em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com três repetições de área por tratamento e com três ovinos testers por piquete. A massa de
forragem (2.878 a 6.580 kg de MS ha-1), a proporção de colmo na MS (22,2 a 52,9%), a proporção de material morto na MS (20,5 a 58,4%) e a carga animal (652 a 2.428 kg
de PV ha-1) observadas no presente estudo sofreram interação (P<0,05) entre período e oferta. A OFLV não influenciou na proporção de folhas da pastagem na MS (18,6 a
22,2%) e na taxa de acúmulo de lâminas foliares (12 a 39 kg ha-1 dia-1 de MS), entretanto estas variaram quadraticamente e cubicamente (P<0,05) em relação aos
períodos de avaliação respectivamente. A composição química da pastagem não variou conforme a OFLV, porém comportou-se quadraticamente (P<0,05) quanto à fibra em detergente neutro e digestibilidade in vitro da MS e cubicamente (P<0,05)
quanto a nitrogênio e MS, durante os períodos. O desempenho animal foi afetado pela interação entre tratamento e período (P<0,05) de modo que o ganho médio diário (GMD) de PV foi negativo na maioria dos períodos, com exceção do segundo onde se observou GMD entre 54 e 99 g animal-1 dia-1. Entretanto o consumo estimado de forragem não foi afetado pelos níveis de OFLV, e foi em média de 1.044g de MS
animal-1 dia-1. Conclui-se que o nível de OFLV de grama-seda, não afetou claramente o crescimento das plantas e influenciou de forma irregular o desempenho de ovinos.
Entretanto as condições climáticas adversas durante o período experimental influenciaram marcadamente nos resultados obtidos.
