En svensk parisienne : Siri Rathsmans konstnärliga utveckling / Siri Rathsman : A Swedish Parisienne

This essay describes the life of Swedish painter Siri Rathsman (1895-1974) and the development that she as an artist went through during her life. Rathsman spent most of her adult life in Paris where she socialized with painters and other artistic people from around the world. Despite living her life in Paris she still kept in touch with her Swedish friends and colleagues for all of her life. She also took part in many exhibitions in Sweden. The aim of this essay is to conclude how Rathsmans artistic style developed. It does so by firstly, giving a description of Rathsman life and by doing so show what artistic styles and movements she may have been exposed to. Afterwards the essay will then continue with analyzes on a few of Rathsmans artworks. The analysis is done with the methods developed by Erwin Panofsky and the discussion on Rathsmans artistic style is done with Bourdieus theories on habitus.
