I dagens samhällsplanering prioriteras den ekonomiska och ekologiska hållbarheten ofta mer än social hållbarhet. Det som inte lyfts i samma utsträckning i dagens diskurs är de sociala värdena i området, exempelvis kulturen, människors sociala förmågor och områdets identitet. Tidigare studier har visat att större uppmärksamhet under planeringsarbetet av ett bostadsområde bör läggas vid sociala värden såsom social integration och systemintegration. Systemintegration, som även kallas för den hårda integrationen, innebär att förhålla sig till de samhälleliga strukturerna , alltså arbete, lagar och regler. Den sociala integrationen, även benämnt den mjuka integrationen, representerar relationerna medborgare emellan. Aspekter som social samvaro, trygghet, välbefinnande och integration är grundläggande förutsättningar för en god livskvalitet. I denna studien har social hållbarhet i privata och kommunala bostadsföretag studerats. Syftet med uppsatsen var att identifiera och beskriva olikheter och likheter med det arbete och de processer hos MKB och Stena fastigheter gör och använder för att aktivt bidra till ökad social hållbarhet. Syftet var också att identifiera hur mål och syfte skiljer sig åt hos de olika aktörerna i deras arbete med social hållbarhet. Grunden i studien har främst bestått av en analys av bostadsföretagens relevanta dokument och kvalitativa intervjuer som stärker förståelsen kring arbetet med social hållbarhet. Resultatet visade att det privata och det kommunala fastighetsbolaget samarbetar och har likvärdiga mål och syfte. Både MKB och Stena fastigheter ägnar mycket tid och energi åt särskilda projekt för olika målgrupper, till exempel ett projekt som arbetar för skolor genom läxhjälp och erbjudandet av sommarjobb. Detta ger möjligheter för unga att arbeta i olika former av förvärvsarbete. Ett särskilt välfungerande arbete med social hållbarhet är det lokala arbetet ute i bostadsområden, alltså att finnas på plats och åtgärda de dagliga behov som hyresgäster har. / In today's community planning, economic and ecological sustainability is often given priority over social sustainability. What is not highlighted to the same extent in today's discourse is the social values in the area, i.e. the culture, people's social values and the area's identity. Previous studies have shown that greater attention during the planning work of a residential area should be given to social values such as social integration and system integration. System integration, which is also called hard integration, means complying with the general regulations, i.e. work, laws and regulations. Social integration, also called soft integration, represents the relational among citizens. Aspects such as security, well-being and integration are basic prerequisites for a good quality of life. The study has studied social sustainability in private and municipal housing companies. The purpose of the thesis was to identify and describe differences and similarities with the work and processes at MKB and Stena fastigheter do and use to actively contribute to increased social sustainability. The purpose was also to identify how goals and purpose differ among the various actors in their work with social sustainability. The basis of the study consisted mainly of an analysis of housing companies' documents and qualitative interviews that strengthened the understanding of the work with social sustainability. The results showed that the private and the municipal real estate company cooperate and have equal goals and purpose. Both MKB and Stena fastigheter devote a lot of time and energy to special projects for different target groups, for example a project that works for schools through homework help and the offer of summer jobs. This provides opportunities for young people to work in various forms of gainful employment. A particularly well-functioning work with social sustainability is the local work out in residential areas, i.e. being on site and addressing the daily needs of tenants.
