<p>This essay is about the consequences of alcohol and driving. The topic was chosen because of all the accidents that have taken place during the last couple of years, where the drivers have been under the influence of alcohol. A number of these accidents have had severe consequences, and in some cases the outcome has been deadly. The author has interviewed members of Länkarna; a non-profit organisation that helps people with alcohol related problems.</p><p>The purpose of writing this essay was to find a reason why alcoholics drive while being intoxicated. Is there really a reason? It is important to look at this because a drunk driver is hazardous to himself and to other drivers. It is also very important to look at how the drunk drivers feel after driving under the influence of alcohol. This research is meant to give a picture of the drunken drivers´ own views on driving under the influence of alcohol.</p><p>The respondents of this research say that the phenomenon drunk driving is largely about the fact that driving is now such an integrated part of our society that you just don’t think about it when you drive while being drunk. They say that driving is part of their everyday life. The respondents also say that you get desensitised of the alcohol and that you don’t reflect about what you are doing. They also say that some of the reasons for continuing to drive under the influence could largely be contributed to not being stopped by the police. The respondents felt almost invincible, as if accidents could not happen to them and about being angry with the police for hindering them in their driving. Finally they talked about feeling as if the punishments for driving drunk are not severe enough. They sought confrontations with what they had done to get them to see the risks of driving under the influence.</p><p>The result of this essay is that alcoholics largely drink and drive because they don’t reflect over the fact that they have been drinking, and that the risk of getting caught is minimal. According to the alcoholics themselves there is nothing that justifies the action. As a drunk driver you just don’t think about what you are doing.</p> / <p>Denna D-uppsats handlar om alkohol och dess följder i trafiken. Ämnet har valts på grund av alla de olyckor som har skett under de senaste åren, där det har kommit fram att förarna har varit alkoholpåverkade. Vid många av dessa olyckor har skadorna varit stora och i värsta fall med dödlig utgång. Författaren har intervjuat medlemmar inom Sällskapet Länkarna, vilken är en ideell organisation som ägnar sig åt att hjälpa människor att komma ur sitt alkoholberoende.</p><p>Syftet med att skriva denna uppsats var att få reda på varför en del alkoholister kör bil när de har druckit alkohol. Finns det ett skäl till att man kör påverkad? Detta är viktigt att ta reda på, eftersom en alkoholpåverkad bilförare är livsfarlig för sig själv och sina medtrafikanter. Det är även viktigt att ta fram hur rattfylleristerna mår efter att de har kört påverkade. Undersökningen är gjord för att ge en bild av alkoholisternas egen syn på rattfylleri.</p><p>Respondenterna i undersökningen som är nyktra alkoholister menar att beteendet rattfylleri till stor del handlar om att bilkörning blivit en så integrerad del i samhället att det inte finns några spärrar som hindrar körning när man är alkoholpåverkad. Respondenterna sade att bilkörningen var en del av deras vardag. Respondenterna berättar även om en avtrubbning av omdömet vilket gör att de inte reflekterar över det egna beteendet. De menade även att skälet till att de fortsatte att köra bil påverkade av alkohol handlade om att de inte åkte fast i ett tidigt skede. Vidare berättade respondenterna att det man såg som det största problemet med möjligheten att åka fast var ovissheten om vad som skulle hända sedan. De hade en känsla av att olyckor inte kunde hända dem och att de blev nästan arga på polisen som hindrade dem från att köra. Slutligen menar respondenterna att de påföljder som finns i dag rörande rattfylleri är alldeles för milda. De ville ha en möjlighet till en kraftig konfrontation med det de har gjort. Detta krävs för att få rattfyllerister att inse riskerna för sig själva och andra.</p><p>Slutsatsen man kan dra med hjälp av denna undersökning är att den största delen av rattfulla alkoholister kör bil för att de inte reflekterar över att de är alkoholpåverkade, och att de inte riskerar att åka fast i tillräckligt hög grad. Det finns inget överliggande resonemang som rättfärdigar denna handling. Som alkoholpåverkad förare tänker man helt enkelt inte.</p>
