Denna studie undersöker hur privata relationer påverkar en chef i en studentorganisations hantering av mellanmänskliga konflikter på arbetsplatsen. Likaledes hur dessa chefer hanterar den inre konflikten mellan vänskaps- och chefsrollen. Studien använder Goffmans rollteori, Hochschilds känsloteori, Festingers teori om kognitiv dissonans, och Franzéns maktbegrepp för att analysera och presentera upplevelserna av rollkonflikter hos tio chefer från Uppsalas studentliv. Detta utifrån deras svar under intervjuer. Av de intervjuade studentcheferna finner vi att chefer sällan kan separera de olika rollerna till fullo, utan tenderar att agera i en delad roll som både chef och vän. Ju närmare denna vänskap är, bortsett från det professionella, desto svårare har cheferna att hantera denna rollkonflikt. / This paper aims to study how private relations affect student organization executives' conflict management in the working area. Also, how these executives manage the internal conflict between the friendship- and executive role. The paper uses Goffman's role theory, Hochschild's emotional labor theory, Festinger's theory about cognitive dissonance, and Franzén’s theories about power to analyze and present the experiences of role conflicts from ten executives in Uppsala’s student organizations, in regard to their answers during interviews. We find that of the interviewed executives, they seem to seldom separate the roles of friend and boss completely. The closeness of the relationship outside of the professional seems to decide the difficulty of managing the internal conflict of role taking.
