"The purpose of this research was twofold: (1) to determine within the limits of the data available, the effect, if any, of a reading improvement course on the success of certain students in other areas of study and subsequent aviation training, and (2) to present technical data describing the trend of improvement in reading speed and comprehension at the conclusion of a formal training course in reading and related study skills. Although the first purpose was of primary concern, a thorough analysis of the apparent changes in raw reading speed and comprehension was possible with the statistics utilized in the study. It was not intended, or even possible, to set up a control group to validate any findings.
