Previous issue date: 2010 / This dissertation is composed of a fictional narrative and a theoretical essay. The story, entitled O Livro das Sombras, follows the path of Roberto Landell de Moura. It is divided into five sections: O Telefone, As sombras, A proposta, Um exorcismo and Vallumbrosius. These sections tell of, respectively, the formation of Landell, from childhood to the first invention; the hostile reaction to inventions, culminating in the destruction of the workshop; the time spent in New York, including the registration of patents; the experiences during the execution of an exorcism ritual; episodes experienced in maturity in Porto Alegre. The essay, entitled Procurando Landell, explains the role of language to promote the meeting, lists the intertexts the work, discusses the construction of a literary character, reveals the link between Galileo and Landell in science, and points to associations between Landell and Daedalus in terms of myth. The aim is to rescue the memory of the social trajectory of Landell de Moura, recreating it fictionally. We highlight the role of creativity and language to promote the meeting. It discusses the literary character from the works of Mikhail Bakhtin and Antonio Candido. It is demonstrated intertextual dialogue with classical and contemporary authors. The discovery of this biographical study is the association to Galileo made by Landell de Moura, from the pen Vallumbrosius. / Esta dissertação é composta por uma narrativa ficcional e um ensaio teórico. A narrativa, intitulada O livro das sombras, acompanha a trajetória de Roberto Landell de Moura. Ela está dividida em cinco seções: O telefone, As sombras, A proposta, Um exorcismo e Vallumbrosius. Tais seções narram, respectivamente, a formação de Landell, desde a infância até o primeiro invento; a reação hostil aos inventos, culminando na destruição da oficina de trabalho; o período vivido em Nova Iorque, incluindo o registro de patentes; as experiências vividas durante a realização de um ritual exorcista; os episódios vividos na maturidade em Porto Alegre. O ensaio, intitulado Procurando Landell, explicita o papel da linguagem para a promoção do encontro, elenca os intertextos da obra, discute a construção da personagem literária, revela o vínculo entre Landell e Galileu no campo da ciência, e aponta associações entre Landell e Dédalo no plano do mito. Pretende-se resgatar a memória social da trajetória de Landell de Moura, recriando-a ficcionalmente. Destaca-se o papel da criatividade e da linguagem para a promoção do encontro. Discute-se a personagem literária a partir das obras de Mikhail Bakhtin e Antonio Candido. Evidencia-se o diálogo intertextual com autores clássicos e contemporâneos. A descoberta biográfica desse estudo está na associação a Galileu feita por Landell de Moura, a partir do pseudônimo Vallumbrosius.
