Samverkan och gruppsamtal : Ur ett kommunikationsperspektiv

The purpose with this study is to find out how six preschool teachers perceives the communication with parents in informal- and formal preschool situations. In the informal communication, we are referring to the daily conversations that happens when parents drop off and pick up their children from preschool. In the formal conversations, we are referring to group meetings between parents and the preschool teachers, which in our study works as a method for the child´s progress meetings. We also want to explore how the individual child is made visible in the group meetings, and if this meetings is a working method for the individual child´s progress meetings in regard of the preschools curriculum. In our study we have used a hermeneutic method, which means that we have attempted to understand the respondent’s thoughts and perceptions of the communications. To get a broader understanding of the result we have analysed our material by the communications theory. The results of our study shows that the preschool teachers feels that the dialogue in the informal conversations is better than in the formal conversations. The largest challenge the preschool teachers acknowledges is the language barriers, but also that they sometimes feel as if the parents don’t have time to talk. In our results we have come to the conclusion that the group meetings are positive in aspects of that the child isn’t as examined as it can be in the traditional individual child´s progress meetings. However at the same time we don’t see that they pay attention to the individual child, which means that a large purpose of the child´s progress meeting isn’t met. In the conclusion we mean that the group meetings are a better alternative for the parent-teacher meetings than for the child´s progress meetings. The reason for our opinion is because many of the preschool teachers in our study informed us that they started with the group meetings for the reason that only a  few parents showed up to the parent-teacher conferences, and because we don’t think that the group meeting meet up with the preschool curriculum.
