The aim of the diploma thesis The influence of housing optimization on selected aspects of cattle breeding was to evaluate the life of dairy cows in relation to housing before reconstruction and after optimization of the housing in the particular breed, and also to observe the occurrence of abnormal behaviour and to evaluate, whether it was eliminated after the reconstruction. An ethological study was conducted on a farm in the Olomouc Region which was involved in dairy cattle breeding. Observation was perfor-med at ten minute intervals, with daily observations taking place on 9 August, 16 August. and 7.9., from 9:00 to 16:50, and night observation taking place on 18 August, 20 August and 22 August, from 21:00 to 05:00. Daily activities of dairy cows, food intake, drinking, lying down, standing, movement, comfortable behaviour, social behaviour, urination, stinging, and abnormal behaviour were observed. The positive effect of stables reconstruction was demonstrated in the case of food intake (7% increase by day, 9% at night), resting (11% increase) and elimination of ab-normal behaviour (at day 1% % of animals). The manifestations of comfort and social behaviour were not significantly affected by the rebuilding of the stables.
