The aim of this study is to bring more knowledge about how teachers in social studies use news and current events in their teaching to develop skills and knowledge with their pupils. This study uses Gert Biestas three dimensions of schools' purpose of education. The method used in this study is a qualitative semi structured interview with six social studie teachers in upper secondary school, which then was coded with an thematic analysis. The result shows that teachers can use current events and news as a complement to their own teaching and to concretize and exemplify their teaching on an everyday basis for the pupils. With the theory it shows that pupils both can qualify knowledge and use that knowledge to think critically and subjective. /
Godkännande datum: 2022-06-02
