Bakgrund: Att förlora en kroppsdel medför att patienternas liv förändras. En amputation innebar inte endast en fysisk förändring utan även en psykisk förändring av patienternas liv. Syfte: Var att beskriva betydelsen av stöd hos patienter efter planerad benamputation. Metod: En litteraturstudie som genomfördes i tre olika databaser. Litteraturstudiens resultat resulterade i nio artiklar som presenterades i fyra teman; betydelsen av stöd vid fysiska förändringar, betydelsen av stöd vid psykiska förändringar, betydelsen av stöd vid existentiella förändring och sociala stödets betydelse vid en amputation. Resultat: Studien resulterade i fyra teman; (I) belyser hur fysiska förändringarna påverkat patienterna samt patienternas ADL. (II) beskriver den psykiska påverkan på patienterna efter amputationen samt att stödet från sjukvårdspersonalen måste inriktas till det psykiska likaväl som det fysiska. (III) beskriver ett missnöje hos patienterna angående stödet från sjukvårdspersonalen samt att patienterna efter amputationen måste bemästra nya färdigheter. (IIII) belyser det sociala stödets betydelse från närstående, vänner och människor runt omkring. Slutsats: I resultatet framkom det att patienterna som är amputerade behövde flera olika inriktningar av stöd efter amputationen. Behovet av stöd och att se hela människan behöver inkluderas i sjuksköterskeprofessionen och det är därför med stor vikt att studiens resultat belys. / Background: Losing a body part is life changing. An amputation involved a physical change and a mental change in patients' lives. Purpose: To describe the importance of support for patients following a planned leg amputation. Method: A literature study conducted in three different databases. The study resulted in nine articles that are presented in four themes; the importance of support at physical changes, the importance of support at psychological changes, the importance of support at existential changes and the importance of social support. Result: The study resulted in four themes; (I) illustrated how physical changes affected patients and patients' ADL. (II) describes the psychological impact on patients after amputation, and that the support must focus on the mental as well as the physical. (III) describes the support of healthcare professionals and that patients must master new skills. (IIII) highlights the importance of social support from close relatives, friends and people around. Conclusion: In the result it emerged that an amputated patient needs several different orientations of support after amputation. The need for support and seeing the whole person needs to be included in the nursing profession. It is therefore of significant importance that the study results need to be highlighted.
