Individers och deras närståendes upplevelser av att leva med långvarig smärta

<p>Background: Individuals in pain is something that most nurses encounter on a daily basis. Chronic physical pain is often followed by psychological pain. The total effects of chronic pain are felt by the patient as well as by close ones. The findings showed that life changed radically after getting chronic pain. Individuals and closeones both had to take every day as it came, because the degree of pain was hard to predict and could worsen at any time off the day. Aim: The aim of this literary study was to examine the impact chronic pain has on daily life from a patients perspective and a chronic pain patients close ones. Method: In this literary study, emperical studies were found and analysed to form the result. Results: The result was divided in two major categories Individuals Perspective and Close Ones Perspective. Six categories emerged from the Patient Perspective: living day by day, being dependent on others, reduced social life, feelings of disbelief, changed state of mind and deteriorated economy. Seven categories emerged from the Relatives Perspective: living day by day, increased responsibilities, changed intimacy and sexlife, reduced social life, feelings of disbelief, changed state of mind/increased feelings of anxiety and deteriorated economy.</p>
