An analysis of first grade basal reading series for words that require real life experiences for meaningful beginning reading

Thesis (Ed.M.)--Boston University / This study is an attempt to determine the specific
experiences needed by children in the first grade for beginning
reading.
It is generally agreed that children make more rapid
progress and build better reading habits if they are provided
in the beginning with interesting material which contains a
desirable minimum of vocabulary difficulties
