This essay investigates the centralization of schools in the municipalityFridlevstad between 1952-1973. Both a quantitative and qualitative method is used for the research, quantitative regarding the statistic part about population and age composition in the parishes. The qualitative method is used with the handle of the protocols from the municipal council and the local school board.The conclusion of this study is that the politicians were rarely under conflict during the process of school-centralization between these years. Between 1952-1973 the numbers of schools in Fridlevstad municipality went from 14to 3, which more or less got positive effects on the education, in some respects.
