Fornece muitos produtos que auxiliam na sobrevivência da população local, especialmente para a alimentação da população ribeirinha do estuário amazônico, sendo os mais importantes o palmito e principalmente a bebida açaí, que é obtida do fruto da palmeira, um alimento tradicional e largamente consumido na Amazônia. Nos últimos anos o consumo vem se expandindo em outras regiões do país e do mundo, ampliando as oportunidades de empregos e estimulando a economia amazônica. A exploração do açaizeiro se dá através de técnicas próprias de extrativismo, praticado intensamente por milhares de pessoas no estuário amazônico. Esta pesquisa analisou, na ilha do Combu - Pará, os aspectos posturais do trabalho extrativista do açaí, na fase de coleta dos frutos, para diagnosticar as possíveis conseqüências nocivas do trabalho na saúde do trabalhador. A pesquisa foi orientada pela metodologia da Análise Ergonômica do Trabalho e empregados os protocolos OWAS, RULA e RARME.
The Açaizeiro (Euterpe Olerácea, Mart) is a typical palm tree of amazon forest and very expressive for the culture for the economy and especially for the feeding of the riverine population of the amazon estuary. The açaí palm originates many products that aid in the survival of the local population. The most important of them is the palm heart, and the Açaí drink, which is obtained from the fruit of the palm tree and is a traditional food, broadly consumed in Amazônia. In the last years the consumption has expanded to other regions of the country and of the world, enlarging the opportunities of employments and stimulating the amazon economics. The exploration of the açaí palm occurs by means of particular extracting techniques practiced intensely by thousands of people in the amazon estuary. The present research investigated, in the island of Combu in the State of Pará, the postural aspects of the extracting work of the açaí palm in the phase of recollection of the fruits using techniques of Ergonomic Analysis of the Work through the OWAS, RULA and RARME protocols, aiming to diagnose the possible noxious consequences of the work in the worker's health.
