Previous issue date: 2015 / This thesis analyzes the Anglo-American tradition of courtship novels focusing on three works from different periods : Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë, and The House of Mirth, by Edith Wharton. After going through this recapitulation of the novelistic tradition involving the passage from adolescence to adulthood in the life of a woman, there is a comparative study of those novels and Marriage Plot, by Jeffrey Eugenides. This novel is seen as a modern parody, following Linda Hutcheon‘s Theory of Parody. / Este trabalho analisa a tradição anglo-americana dos romances de casamento com foco em três obras de períodos diferentes: Orgulho e Preconceito, de Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, de Charlotte Brontë, e The House of Mirth, de Edith Wharton. Após esta recaptulação da tradição romanesca de obras voltadas para a passagem da adolescência para a vida adulta da mulher, é feito um estudo comparativo com o romance A trama do casamento, de Jeffrey Eugenides. A obra é lida como uma paródia moderna, seguindo os conceitos de Linda Hutcheon.
