Previous issue date: 2004-02-20 / In the last few decades, there has been a growing attention to leadership and creativity considering their relevance to organization productivity. Thus, the purpose of this research was to verify the thinking and creative styles in organizationalleaders and subordinates, as well as to compare if there were significant differences of thinking and creative styles among professionals who were indicated as leaders and as not as leaders, as well as differences gender. The sample was composed by 76 partic?pants, with half being leaders and half being subordinates. Ali of them have come from the administrative and the operational areas that were invited by Human Resources Department of two national private companies and one state company from Campinas area. Ali the participants were volunteers. The instruments used were Thinking and Creative Style Scale (Wechsler, 1999) and the Creativity and Leadership Perception Inventory, elaborated in this research by them. The scale is Likert type, composed of 100 items on cognitive, affective and social areas that were named as seven factors: Motivational Trust, Innovator Unconformism, InternaI and Externai Sensibility, Flexible and Original Fluency, Intuitive Investment, Humourous Synthesis, Partial T olerance and Intuitive Daring. The inventory was composed of three questions in which the participants attributed nine adjectives which characterize leader, the creative person, and the similarity between them. The Univariate Analysis of Variation was done to compare each facto r of style of the scale between leaders and subordinates. As to inventory, the Contents Analysis was done and after, the Chi-Square. The results indicated that there were significant differences (p<0,01) between leaders and subordinates on the Innovator Unconformism, Intuitive Investment and Intuitive Daring factors. lhe female leaders showed significant difference (p<0,01) to the male leaders only on the InternaI and Externai Sensibility. In addition, the adjectives honest, comprehensive, objective, creative, f1exible and secure characterized the leadership. In conclusion, it is possible to identify creative leaders and subordinates through their thinking style. / A lideran?a e a criatividade v?m despertando aten??o crescente de diversos pesquisadores nas ?ltimas d?cadas considerando a import?ncia daquelas para as empresas. Deste modo, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar o estilo de pensar e criar em l?deres e n?o-l?deres organizacionais, bem como comparar se existem diferen?as significativas nos estilos de pensar e criar entre profissionais que exercem ou n?o lideran?a e entre o g?nero dos l?deres. A amostra foi composta por setenta e seis participantes, sendo metade de l?deres e o restante de subordinados, todos da ?rea administrativa e operacional convidados pelos Recursos Humanos de duas empresas particulares e de uma empresa estatal da regi?o de Campinas que participaram, voluntariamente, da pesquisa. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Escala de Estilos de Pensar e Criar e o Invent?rio de Percep??o de Criatividade e Lideran?a que foram respondidos, individualmente, pelos participantes. A escala ? do tipo Likert, composta por 100 itens sobre a ?rea cognitiva, afetiva e social que foram denominados como sete fatores: Confian?a Motivadora, Inconformismo Inovador, Sensibilidade Interna e Externa, Flu?ncia Flex?vel e Original, Investimento Intuitivo, S?ntese Humor?stica, Toler?ncia Parcial e Ousadia Intuitiva. O invent?rio ? constitu?do de tr?s quest?es abertas onde os participantes atribu?ram nove adjetivos que caracterizassem o l?der, a pessoa criativa e a semelhan?a entre eles. Foi feita a An?lise de Vari?ncia Univariada para comparar cada fator de estilo da escala entre l?deres e n?o-lideres. Quanto ao invent?rio, foi realizada a An?lise de Conte?do e ap?s, o Qui-quadrado. Os resultados indicaram que houve diferen?as significativas (p<0,01) entre l?deres e n?o-l?deres nos fatores Inconformismo Inovador, Investimento Intuitivo e Ousadia Intuitiva. Os l?deres do sexo feminino apresentaram diferen?a significativa (p<0,01) em rela??o aos homens apenas no fator Sensibilidade Interna e Externa. Al?m disso, os adjetivos honesto, compreensivo, objetivo, criativo, flex?vel e seguro caracterizaram o l?der. Conclui-se que ? poss?vel identificar l?deres e n?o-l?deres criativos atrav?s do seu estilo de pensar
