Previous issue date: 2017-05-26 / Os cuidados paliativos são uma modalidade de atendimento que têm avançado nos últimos anos, porém as construções literárias envolvendo os aspectos sociais dentro desta área não têm avançado nas mesmas proporções. Esta abordagem busca oferecer cuidados multiprofissional aos pacientes com doenças que ameaçam a continuidade da vida, para que tenham qualidade de vida e uma morte digna. O Serviço Social é parte integrante desta equipe e possui um papel essencial, principalmente no trabalho voltado às famílias. O familiar muitas vezes torna-se parte integrante da equipe com a responsabilidade de realizar os cuidados diários deste paciente. O desejo de realizarmos esta pesquisa deve-se à nossa experiência profissional em que vivenciamos diariamente as dificuldades que os familiares cuidadores de pessoas em tratamento oncológico paliativo enfrentam na sua rotina de vida. O objetivo principal desta Dissertação é analisar a realidade do familiar envolvido no tratamento oncológico com os cuidados paliativos, a fim de compreender como estas famílias estão lidando com esta questão. Realizamos pesquisas de natureza bibliográfica e de campo (qualitativa) junto à Associação Brasileira de Assistência às Pessoas com Câncer (ABRAPEC), respaldada pelo método do materialismo histórico dialético. Abordamos em seu desenvolvimento o contexto histórico e atual dos cuidados paliativos, inclusive nas políticas sociais brasileira e o papel da equipe multiprofissional nesta modalidade de atendimento, da qual faz parte o assistente social. Estudamos também, o contexto histórico-social das famílias, visando conhecer sua construção e o seu papel na contemporaneidade e nas políticas sociais, visto que a família vem cada vez mais assumindo as reponsabilidades nos cuidados domiciliares de pessoas gravemente enfermas. Analisamos os cuidados paliativos domiciliares relacionando-os com a rotina de vida e relações familiares dos sujeitos desta pesquisa. Evidenciamos que as questões envolvendo a qualidade dos cuidados domiciliares são complexas e englobam vários fatores: sociais, emocionais, espirituais, dinâmica interna da família, apoio da equipe e a maneira como lidamos com a morte. Almejamos com este trabalho contribuir para que os familiares e profissionais compreendam os fatores sociais que norteiam este assunto e possam ter acesso a melhores recursos e preparo para enfrentarem tal situação. / The palliative care is a type of care that has been advancing in the last years even if the literature regarding its social aspects has not been evolving as fast. This approach offers multiprofissional care to patients with terminal diseases so they have quality of life and are provided a dignified dying. The Social Work is part of the mentioned multiprofissional team and has an essencial role, specially concerning the work with the patients’ families. The family member often becomes part of the care team as they take upon them the responsibility to care for the patient on daily basis. The idea to do a research about palliative care came from this researcher´s professional experience, which made it possible to observe the everyday struggles faced by family members that are also carers of patients going through oncology palliative care. The main goal of this dissertation is to analyse the reality of the routine of the family member involved in the oncology palliative care, in order to understand how the families are dealing with it. The dissertation was written based on bibliographic research and field research (qualitative), whose data was collected from the Associação Brasileira de Assistência às Pessoas com Câncer (ABRAPEC) and based on the dialectical and historical materialism method. For its development we used the both historical and current contexts of palliative care, which incluides the Brazilian social policies and the role of the multiprofissional team, of which the social worker is part. The social-historical context of the families was also object of study in order to understand their construction e their role in the contemporary social policies, considering that families are becoming increasingly more involved in the home care of these seriously ill patients. We analysed the home-based palliative care connecting them with the research subjetcs´ life routine and family relationships. We remarked that questions regarding the quality of the home care are complex and involves various factors such as: social class, feelings, spiritual beliefs, family dynamics, team support and the personal view of what death is. We aim with this work to assist professionals and family members in understanding the social factors that guide the subject so they can choose the best resources and be prepared to face the situation.
