Gymnasieverksamheten : en kvalitativ undersökning om Ungdoms- och familjeteamets samverkan med gymnasieskolan och polisen i drogpreventivt arbete

Upper secondary schools programme - a qualitative study about the collaboration of the Youth- and family team, the upper secondary schools and the police to prevent drugs Author: Åsa Göransson Supervisor: Björn Johansson This essay discuss drug preventative work performed by the members of the “Upper secondary schools programme”, which is a part of the Youth- and family team of the Social Services. They perform this work in collaboration with the police and upper secondary schools in Örebro. The purpose of this essay is to investigate and describe this collaboration. More specifically, the purpose is to study the contents of documents of the municipality of Örebro concerning drug prevention aimed at youths through collaboration and compare with the actual work that is carried out by the Youth- and family team through collaboration. Further issues dealt with are possible improvements and if the parties concerned feel a need for a documented structure concerning their way of working. I have used a qualitative method and I have interviewed members of parties concerned. The two members of the Upper secondary organisation, the head principal of the Karolinska School and the group-leader of the narcotics squad, have been interviewed. The essay is based on earlier research concerning collaboration between the social services, the school and the police working with vulnerable children and youths. Documents from the municipality of Örebro about youth, drug abuse and collaboration will also be a part of my interpretation. As starting point I will analyse my result from the focuses I found common in earlier research. The chapters on Earlier research and Results will be presented divided into different themes. These themes are: Aim and purpose, Means, Knowledge, roles and equality, Support from the management and legitimacy and Structure and routines. I also analyse earlier research regarding social service’s collaboration with the police and the school, along with research on secrecy and laws. Improvements and a passage about documents of Örebro municipality will also be presented in the result/analysis. My result shows that there is a connection to earlier research regarding Aim and purpose, Support from the management and Knowledge, roles and equality. Aims and attitudes common to all parties and a supportive management is mutual for the people I have interviewed. They feel interdependent of each others work and knowledge. Structure and routines vary but there is still a relatively determined work procedure and this procedure has been more or less implemented by the staff. There are means being put into their collaboration and they consider the means provided enough for them to do their work. Regarding problems with secrecy mentioned in earlier research is not seen as a problem of the parties concerned. They can usually work with consent from the clients.
