The study of the natural environment and the acknowledged effects of the global warming has come to affect other disciplines including the field of IS research. A sustainable future cannot afford the continuing of our unsustainable behaviors. The organization and the behaviors of its employees are reproducers of the unsustainable society and with this knowledge comes responsibility. A growing interest to be a part of the sustainable development has thus influenced the organizations way of manufacturing goods and transform processes with the motive of making them more efficient and “greener”. This leads to the growing interest of the opportunity of implementing IS as a contributing factor of the transformations process. This essay studies the digital tool for communication and its’ promoting influence on the transformation process toward a sustainable IT-consulting business. The study acknowledges social contextual factors and organization structures that may challenge the effectiveness of the digital tool. The empirical findings are viewed through the lens of organizational learning and thus contribute to the field of IS research with a new perspective on the impact of IT in the transformations process.
