Inflytande på agendan : En intervjustudie om elevkårsrepresentanters upplevelser av representation och elevdemokrati / Influence on the agenda : Interviews with student body representatives and their experiences of student democracy

Democracy, influence and school are three keywords that characterize many of today's debates taken place both within the world of school and outside. Articles in newspapers and theses are written with the purpose to investigate how these three concepts can and should relate to each other, however, there are differences between how and the extent to which students should be involved and influence the school's activities and its democratic mandate. The purpose of this study is to examine how democratic representation is reflected in school activities. Through interviews with two student representatives from two student bodies, I want to examine how they see their work and its opportunities for advocacy in school activities. The result of this study indicates that through the theoretical framework of democratic representation, the two student representatives can and can not be seen as representative for the whole school and its pupils. Also, it is not well-known by the pupils that these types of student organisations exist.
